BandBrain has TWO chat interfaces and they're for different things.
Help chat
Where: top of /dashboard/help What it knows: how BandBrain (the app) works — features, how-tos, troubleshooting, the help center articles What it CAN'T do: see your tour data. It has no access to your roster, your day_facts, your contacts, your sheets.
Use it for:
- "How do I add someone to the roster?"
- "What does the tour-day clock do?"
- "Where do I configure SMS?"
- "Why does my broadcast say 'opt-in pending'?"
Ask BandBrain
Where: top of /dashboard (the home page), or via SMS What it knows: your tour's actual data — every connected file, every day_fact, every contact, every past message, plus permissions and memory What it CAN'T do: explain how BandBrain works as an app. If you ask it "how do I add a roster member?", it'll get confused — it's a tour-data agent, not a docs agent.
Use it for:
- "What's tonight's hotel?"
- "Who's on the Wiltern list?"
- "Add John Smith plus one to tomorrow"
- "What did the promoter send last week?"
Telling them apart
If your question starts with "how do I..." or "where is..." or "what does X mean", it's a Help chat question.
If your question is about a specific person, date, file, contact, or content, it's an Ask BandBrain question.
What happens if you mix them up
The Help chat is system-prompted to redirect: if you ask it a tour-data question, it'll say "That's a tour-data question — use the Ask BandBrain box on the home page, or text the BandBrain number."
The main agent isn't system-prompted the other way (it'll attempt to answer help questions but get them wrong). So when in doubt, default to the Help chat for app questions and the main agent for tour questions.
