CONNECTING DROPBOX

Step-by-step for connecting Dropbox.

Connecting

  1. Go to /dashboard/connectors
  2. Find the Dropbox row → click Connect
  3. Redirect to Dropbox OAuth
  4. Pick the Dropbox account that has access to your tour folder
  5. Grant the requested scopes (files.metadata.read, files.content.read)
  6. Redirect back — Dropbox shows as Connected

Picking the folder

  1. After connecting, click into the Dropbox row
  2. Click Pick a folder
  3. Navigate to your tour folder and select
  4. Save

Same as Google: you can pick multiple folders. All become watched resources.

Ingestion

BandBrain ingests supported file types: PDFs, images, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, plain text. Each becomes a resource in your knowledge base with auto-discovered schema (for tabular files like .xlsx).

Dropbox auto-sync uses delta cursors — Dropbox tells BandBrain when files in watched folders change, and BandBrain re-syncs just the changed ones. No polling, near-real-time freshness.

User-limit error

If you hit "This app has reached its user limit. Contact the app developer..." during connect, the BandBrain Dropbox app is in dev mode with a connection cap. Email aaron@bandbrain.ai — we'll clear out stale connections or apply for production status.

Seat counting

Connecting to a Dropbox Business team does NOT add a seat or user. BandBrain shows up as a Connected App in the user's settings, billed as a connected integration (free).

Read-only

Unlike Google Sheets, BandBrain doesn't write back to Dropbox files. Dropbox treats files as opaque blobs — editing an Excel file would require download → parse → modify → re-upload, which is risky if a human has the file open. For now, Dropbox is read-only.

For write-heavy use cases (live guest list edits, schedule updates), use Google Sheets as the source of truth.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect. BandBrain's access is removed; the Dropbox account is untouched.
