BandBrain can compute driving distance + drive time between any two locations. Route-based, not straight-line — the answer reflects the actual road, with current-traffic ETA when Google has live data for that route.
How to ask
Anyone on the roster can ask. Examples that all work over SMS or the dashboard chat:
- "How far is it from the hotel to the venue today?"
- "How many miles to tomorrow's show?"
- "How long will it take to drive from Albany to Boston?"
- "Drive time from the venue to the airport?"
- "What's the distance between tonight's hotel and tomorrow morning's load-in?"
The agent pulls the right addresses from your day sheets automatically — you don't have to look them up first.
What you get back
Miles, drive time without traffic, drive time WITH live traffic (when Google has it for that route). Example:
Hotel → venue: 2.3 mi · ~7 min driving (10 min in current traffic)
Hotel: 37 Route 9W, Glenmont NY 12077 Venue: 93 N Pearl St, Albany NY 12207
The agent shows what it resolved each end to, so you can confirm it used the right address.
When it can't compute a distance
If one of the addresses can't be resolved (no street address on file, ambiguous place name, etc.), the agent says so plainly and asks for clarification — never guesses a number.
If there's no driving route between the two points (water gap, restricted area, or one of them isn't on the road network), it surfaces that too.
What it does NOT do (yet)
- Doesn't navigate — surfaces the number, doesn't open Maps or send a turn-by-turn route.
- Doesn't optimize multi-stop runs (e.g. "what order should we hit Boston → Providence → NYC?"). That's a separate feature.
- Doesn't account for crew bus / oversize vehicle restrictions — assumes standard driving routing.
